2016 - year of Rando!

Well 2015 was a pathetic year for riding, running, etc. for any number of reasons, but mainly due to not being motivated.
2016 is going to be different! I am riding to a new job 3 days a week and expect my mileage to ramp up quickly and am shooting for a 2,3, and 4 K run. If all feels well, I may shoot for a 600K, but we will see.
Gute Farht!

Celebrity or target

I recently was interviewed by our local paper about how the city can support Winter cyclists and man, did the trolls come out. What I am advocating for is to have the city step up and support cyclists as an important and valid part of the transit system instead of wanting to segregate them to greenways to nowhere and unsafe bile lanes. We will see where this goes, I guess

It has been a long time since I have posted here, but it is not due to a lack of exercise :) Did not make any of my goals this year, but still feels strong. Made ~35 miles at the laramie enduro and felt like I was getting the in the groove of things, but to be honest, just needed another month for 2-3 50 mile rides on the mtn bike. Icy bike challenge is going well this year with 7 commutes in October for a total of ~140 miles this month. Rode Devils back bone with an old Bike Longmont board member Drew Illman and wow, what a trail and not in a good way. Did ~15 miles and the first 5+ was just crappy rocky off-cambered climbing and descending. Not what I call fun. The Blue sky route was really nice with fast tight singletrack.

Weekly stats

Last week was much better than the week before with the following states

T- 4.4 miles with a drop in time on a regular course
W - No running, but a nice walk with Heidi
T - 4.2 miles near home
F - Off
S - Nice and semi-easy 3.5 miler
S- No running due to being on my feel all day at the 4-h carnival on concrete. Did lots of gardening chores
Next week is similar to last week

Did not run yesterday, just ran out of time. Today, I vowed that I would not let that happen again, so at lunch, I ran a nice 4 miler off Ogallala and the Lobo today. Felt pretty strong and am getting into the swing again of running.

I am doing some research on new shoes, as my Montrails have maybe enough mileage to get to North Fork, but not much more. I am looking at Altras, Montrails, Inov-8, NF, and PI right, but this whole new drop idea is not something I am familiar with.

I am off tomorrow with 2 runs this weekend of between 45-60 min.

Nice run

Did core work last night with Heidi and am a little sore today, but it did not impact my run today. Ran 4.4 miles on the Coalton trail behind my work in 55 and change with a co-worker is also into ultras, which is around 4-5 minutes faster than last week. The one major climb at the turn around was a ton easier and I was able to run most of it keeping my HR in check.

Week's stats

Finished my first week of running in a few months and while it was not great, it was better than not running.
M - 4.4 miles on the local trails near work
T - 2 miles through the hood near work
W - 3 miles of road running near home
The rest of the week was a bust, as Th/F were supposed to be rest days and S/Su were supposed to be trail runs, but with temps in the teens, I wussed out.

This coming week's schedule is this with some effort of core work.
